Pumpkin Exploration

Reception have been exploring pumpkins! We have learnt about how and where they grow, looked at different sized pumpkins and found out that they are not just for decoration but are delicious to eat! We baked a yummy pumpkin cake!

 The Leaf Thief

We have been finding out about the animals in this book, where they live, how they make their home and what they eat.

We know that a squirrel likes to make a nest in a tree, this is called a drey. We have been exploring the materials a squirrel would use to make its nest.

Here are some of our drawings of the nests we think a squirrel will live.

I am an Artist

We have been finding out what an artist is and how we can be artists too. We used the work of artist Kandinsky to inspire us.

Check out our amazing work.

We were excited to start using our self serve paint bottles and explore colour mixing.

Hedgehog visit

Our Reception children have been exploring the wonderful world of woodland animals, discovering where they live, how they build their homes and what they like to eat.

We were excited to welcome Jan from Hedgie Hog Hotel - Oakworth along with her hedgehog friend, Star! 🦔✨ Jan taught us all about her important work rescuing hedgehogs in need and shared how we can help protect them too.

Forest Adventure

We have been enjoying our Forest Adventure visits...

4 and 5

We have been finding out all about the numbers 4 and 5.

We've also been exploring shapes with 4 sides.

Stay and sparkle

We invited our grown-ups along to a festive stay and play. As part of this, we listened to The Nativity story and then shared some activities together.

RE - Why Do Christians Perform a Nativity at Christmas?

We have been exploring this question through books and props, as well as acting out the story in class and preparing to perform it to our adults.

We have looked at different pictures of Jesus throughout his life and then listened to the story about him being born.

We found out about the visitors and different people in this story.

We dresses up and re-told The Nativity story.

It's Christmas!!!!!!!

Tom and Tessa, our RE dolls, left a present for us in our classrooms. We were so excited and we couldn't wait to decorate the tree together.
