Our First Week
We have all had such a wonderful time meeting new friends, exploring our classroom and trying new foods during our first week of school.
If you do not see a photograph of your child, you may not have completed the photograph permission sheet, please contact the office should you wish to update this.
We also enjoyed sharing lunch with our grown-ups.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears
We found footprints in our classroom and looked for clues as to what might have left them.

Here are some of our predictions!
I think the Gruffalo left them. Hudson
They are fresh footprints, maybe it was an enormous dog. Rowan
It looks like bear prints. Ayla
Later, we watched a video of a bear in our classroom and discovered that he had been looking for a girl called Goldilocks. Daddy Bear needed our help to find Goldilocks so we made posters and stuck them around school.

We were excited to receive a letter from the Bears inviting us to use their porridge oats to make our own porridge and flapjacks!

We decided that we wanted to help Baby Bear, we chose the resources we wanted to use to design and then build him a new chair!
We have been finding out about the different emotions the bears feels, from anger to being shocked and upset. Here we are showing these emotions after looking carefully at the bears facial expressions throughout the book!
We even practised some oral segmenting and writing the letter sounds we could hear in the CVC words.
Finding 1, 2 and 3
This half term, Reception have been exploring the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We have been learning to recognise, count and represent these numbers, noticing how many objects are in a group and developing our understanding of what each number means. Through practical activities, games and exploring our classroom environment, we have been finding amounts, comparing groups and looking for numbers all around us.
Sorting, Matching and Comparing
We have been developing our skills through sorting, matching and comparing. Using the story The Button Box, we investigated buttons, looking closely at their similarities and differences in colour, pattern, shape and size. We also explored patterns through the story Simon Sock and even came to school wearing our very own patterned socks! Through practical, hands-on activities, the children have been learning to notice details, describe what they see and explain how objects can be sorted and matched in different ways.

Forest Adventure
Our Reception children have had a wonderful time enjoying their very first Forest Adventure session! 🌿 They began exploring our beautiful outdoor space, taking in their surroundings, breathing in the fresh air and discovering the wonders of the natural world. From touching the trees and feeling the textures of nature to noticing the little details around them.
