Our chicks!
We have been super excited in nursery to watch our chicks hatch. The awe and wonder this experience provides our children is one that will stay with them forever, remembering it for many years to come.
Here are some of the things the children have said about them
"They are cute" "They have feet that are itchy" "They have beaks and peck"
"They are fluffy and yellow" "I love the chicks they are beautiful"
The Three Little Pigs - Week 1
Our text this half term is The Three Little Pigs. This week we recieved a letter from 2 of the pigs telling us their brother was missing. We made missing posters to help us to find him.
We have now discovered that a wolf is on the loose! Check back in next week to find out if we find him.
We have also enjoyed exploring outside this week as the weather is beginning to improves we are enjoying exploring transient art and natural materials.
Week 2 and Week 3
We have been looking for a wolf, we heard he had escaped from fairytale land and was near school. We made wanted wolf posters.
We were sent a challenge from fairytale land. Could we build houses strong enough to stop the wolf them down. We became the architects of fairytale land.
We have also explored cherry blossom trees this week. We have created our own trees after looking at the beautiful ones in our carpark.
Week 4 and Week 5
We have been busy exploring the gardens with Joel. He helped us plant beans and sunflowers and we enjoyed discovering all about the different types of beans.
We have also been exploring the medium of clay. The children have realised that working with clay is very different to working with playdough. We have given our fine motor skills a good work out squeezing and moulding the clay into shapes.
We have enjoyed outdoor learning in the sunshine.
Week 6 and Week 7
We are excited to meet The Gingerbread Man. The children enjoyed making their own gingerbread men. We went on to explore the story and do some story sequencing. Take a look at our story sequencing below.
We finished our half term off celebrating national bee day. We explored why bee's are so important to our planet and how we can help to look after them. The children enjoyed bee stories and making bee posters. We enjoyed making and trying honey sandwhiches and we ended our week with a music focus around the piece 'Flight of The Bumblebee' by Rimsky Korsakof.
What a busy half term we have had! We are looking forward to exploring a new text next half term.
