Welcome from the Y2 teachers 2025-2026!
Who are the Y2 team?
Dragonflies class teachers are Miss Johnson and Miss K.
Mr Dion is the learning support assistant.
Bees class teacher is Miss Akram.
Miss Bruce is the learning support assistant.
Our Year 2 Class charter:
Important days:
- Both Y2 classes have PE on a Friday.
- Both Y2 classes have enrichment on a Tuesday.
- Both Y2 classes have their library slot on a Friday.
3 Day Read takes place on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
3 Day Read book hand in is on a Wednesday.
3 Day Read book hang out is on a Friday.
Phonics takes place daily, and the Year 2 children are focusing on 'Bridge to Spelling' where they apply all of their phonics knowledge to spellings.
Spellings are given out every week to learn from home and these are tested on a Friday. Whilst these are done under 'test conditions', they are just to get the children familiar to spelling tests in preparation for KS2. We just want the children to do their best :)
Other information:
- Children need to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times tables off by heart and be able to count up in 3's. It would be great if the children could be practising these from home. Year 2 now have their own log ins to 'Times Table Rock Stars' which they can access from home.
- Topic and homework webs are sent home each half term. These link to the text and topic that drives the whole curriculum for the half term (History, Geography or Science).
- Additional weekly home learning activities are given out, but these are optional and only needs to be completed if you as a family wish to :)
