DT

This half term, Year 3 explored mosaic art by evaluating a range of mosaic designs and discussing what made them effective. They then designed their own mosaic inspired roman artefacts, carefully selecting colours, shapes and patterns. Finally, they brought their designs to life by creating a real mosaic using tiles and grout, developing their practical skills, creativity and attention to detail throughout the process.

Topic - History

This half term, Year 3 stepped back in time to become Roman legionaries preparing to invade Britain. Through an exciting role-play activity, the children experienced some of the challenges faced by Roman soldiers, including planning their journey, working as a team and considering the strategies needed for a successful invasion. This immersive lesson helped bring history to life and deepened their understanding of why and how the Romans came to Britain.

Science

Year 3 learned about the bones in the human body and the important role the skeleton plays. The children identified and named some of the major bones, explored how bones support and protect our bodies, and discussed how they work together to help us move. Through practical activities and investigations, they developed their scientific knowledge and understanding of the human body.

 Enrichment

Enrichment this term has been an action packed one with swimming, forest schools, cycling and board games. The children have improved their problem-solving skills, developed their confidence, created positive relationships and learnt how to win and lose graciously.

Opera

Our Year 3 children had an unforgettable experience performing in a fantastic opera! After weeks of learning songs, practicing and developing their performance skills, they confidently took to the stage in front of an audience.

The children demonstrated excellent teamwork, enthusiasm and resilience throughout the rehearsals, supporting one another and growing in confidence with every performance. Their singing brought the production to life, making it a memorable occasion for everyone who attended. We are incredibly proud of all the children for their hard work, dedication and outstanding performances. They truly shone on stage and represented our school brilliantly. Well done, Year 3!
