The Pond and Beyond

We are taking care of caterpillars and tadpoles and finding out about life-cycles, we have been noticing the changes happening.

There's a mummy tadpole, it's the big one. Huriyah

Earth Day

To celebrate Earth Day and encourage thinking about recycling, we asked each child to bring in an item that could be reused, such as ribbon, packaging, wool and similar materials. Using these, we took inspiration from Turner Prize Winner 2025, Nnenu Kalu, and created our own recycled sculpture.

The children also shared what they love most about Earth by drawing pictures inside love hearts, and they created some Earth paintings.

Expressive Arts and Design

We have been taking inspiration from Beatrix Potter an creating artwork based on nature and the outdoors.

We have also been learning how to draw frogs and butterflies.

Happy Birthday Sir David Attenborough!

We received a letter from David Attenborough asking us for our help as he had heard some terrible news! Bob the builder wanted to cut down our forest and build a car park in it's place. We knew we had to take action. We created posters and went on a mini-protest to save our forest!

We had a wonderful afternoon appreciating our school forest!

We are writers!

Look at some of our amazing writing this half-term based on the book Tadpoles Promise!

Religious Education

This half term we have been exploring the question 'Why is the word God so important to Christians?'.

We enjoyed listening to the Godly Play version of 'The Creation story’. We drew parts of the Creation Story.

Bee Week 2026

Wednesday 20th May is world bee day! We thought we would dedicate a week to bees and find out why they are so important for our planet.

We have been reading 'The Honey Bee' to support us with our learning on bees.

Take a look at our amazing work and what we have found out about bees :)

We enjoyed making honey biscuits to celebrate ‘World Bee Day’.

We were excited to meet a real bee keeper, Louise. She talked to use about the bees she keeps, how she helps the bees and some interesting facts!

Reading Together!

Reception children and their families came together in the school hall for a ‘Reading Together’ session. We were blown away by the amazing turnout and loved seeing everyone getting involved with #10SharingBooks. 📚
Sharing stories with children helps to enhance their language skills, spark their imagination and strengthen the bond you share. We hope you enjoy your free book and continue reading together at home. ❤️
