Free school meals during school closures

Whilst schools are closed for the foreseeable future, we at St. Mary's are determined to still support all of our families to the best of our ability.

One of the ways that we are doing this is through delivering free school meals to the doorsteps of those that are eligible. We are currently delivering over 60 free school meals per day. Please can we absolutely reassure you that these meals are prepared in our school kitchen which has always, and continues to, follow strict hygiene processes. In addition to this, the people who are delivering are wearing gloves and leaving the free school meals on doorsteps before knocking and stepping over 6ft back (to adhere to social distancing regulations). Your well-being but also health and safety is absolutely our priority.

Some other schools (including other local schools) have opted to support their families through food voucher schemes for those that are eligible, however, these are schools that may not have the capacity to use their school kitchen. Whilst we are fortunate enough to have our school kitchen in use, we will be continuing to offer free school meals as opposed to food vouchers to support our families.

If you are not already receiving any free school meals, but think that this would help you and your family through these uncertain times, please contact the school office on 01535 210002. You do not need to be eligible for free school meals to utilise this offer - we just want to be able to help and support you all in whatever way is possible to us.
