VE Day Celebration

On Friday the 8th of May 2020 we celebrated VE Day (Victory in Europe). This was to commemorate 75 years since the end of World War 2 in Europe.

The children spent the week leading up to the bank holiday doing various activities, crafts and art projects to immerse them in this subject and its historic significance. These included; designing and building their own Anderson air raid shelters, using water colours to create poppies, bunting, and spitfires, designed cakes and baked them, danced to music from the 1940's and participated in a 'Dig for Victory' garden session! The children also designed their own T-shirts which they wore to our playground street party.

As you will see from the photos, there is no better way to celebrate than with a playground street party!

We decorated tables with flags and bunting and took to the playground to eat, drink and dance.
