Weekly Art Challenge

Art Challenge 6 - Being Kind

As we enter into our ninth week of 'school closures', we also enter into 'Mental Health Awareness Week', with the theme as 'Kindness'. We thought that this could be our theme for this week's art challenge - just simply 'Kindness'. When you have created your 'Kindness' inspired art, please take a photo and send them to your child's class email address. We would love to share these on our website :)

Here is our collection of 'Kindness' images, created by both staff and children :)

Art Challenge 5 - VE Day

As we enter into our seventh week of 'school closures', we thought it would be a lovely idea to combine our weekly art challenge with VE Day. On Friday 8th May, families across the country are going to continue being safe and stay at home, but celebrate VE Day with a picnic / house party. Over the week, with your children at home, it would be lovely to spend some time creating and making the decorations for this - themed around Union Jacks. Below is a range of different decorations and resources you could make, but also feel free to come up with your own ideas!

When you have made these and decorated your homes, please take a photo and send them to your child's class email address. We would love to share these on our website :)

Art Challenge 4 - Always Look on the Bright Side

Last week, the staff of St. Mary's loved seeing the range of hilarious jokes in your front windows when we delivered free school meals and homework packs to you at home.

As we enter into our sixth week of 'school closures', we thought it would be a lovely idea to continue the art challenge but once again, change the theme. So this week, the theme is 'Always look on the bright side of life' - focused on sunshine and happiness.

With your children at home, it would be lovely to spend some time creating your own 'bright side of life' images before then displaying them in your front windows alongside your 'rainbows of hope', 'funny faces', 'Easter scenes' and jokes from the previous weeks. As the weeks go on, this will create a 'window of positivity' in all of our homes which will hopefully continue to lift the spirits of all people who pass your windows.

When you have made these and placed them in your windows, please take a photo and send them to your child's class email address. We would love to share these on our website :)

Art Challenge 3 - Easter Art

Last week, the staff of St. Mary's continued to enjoy receiving emails with photos of our staff and children's 'rainbows of hope' and 'funny faces'. We loved seeing these in your front windows when we delivered free school meals and homework packs to you at home.

As we enter into our third week of 'school closures' and the Easter holidays, we thought it would be a lovely idea to continue the art challenge but once again, change the theme. So this week, the theme is 'Easter Scenes'.

With your children at home, it would be lovely to spend some time creating your own 'Easter Scene' images before then displaying them in your front windows alongside your 'rainbows of hope' and 'funny faces' from the previous two weeks. As the weeks go on, this will create a 'window of positivity' in all of our homes which will hopefully continue to lift the spirits of all people who pass your windows.

When you have made these and placed them in your windows, please take a photo and send them to your child's class email address. We would love to share these on our website :)

Art Challenge 2 - Funny Faces to keep everyone smiling

Last week, the staff of St. Mary's were totally blown away by the amazing efforts of our children and their families with their 'rainbows of hope'. We loved receiving emails with photos of these attached and we loved seeing these in your front windows when we delivered free school meals and homework packs to you at home.

As we enter into our second week of 'school closures', we thought it would be a lovely idea to continue the art challenge but change the theme each week. So this week, the theme is 'funny faces to keep everyone smiling'. We hope that this challenge will make you smile and laugh :)

With your children at home, it would be lovely to spend some time creating your own 'funny faces to keep everyone smiling' images before then displaying them in your front windows alongside your 'rainbows of hope' from last week. As the weeks go on, this will create a 'window of positivity' in all of our homes which will hopefully continue to lift the spirits of all people who pass your windows.

When you have made these and placed them in your windows, please take a photo and send them to your child's class email address. We would love to share these on our website :)

Ar Challenge 1 - Rainbows of hope

"Pictures of rainbows have started springing up in windows all over the UK after schools were asked to close in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Hundreds of schools are encouraging pupils to put up paintings to spread hope after a trend started online." - BBC News

With your children at home, it would be lovely to spend some time creating your own rainbows of hope and then displaying them in your front windows. When the staff of St. Mary's are out delivering free school meals and home learning packs,  it will really lift our spirits to see these. Happy creating!

When you have made these and placed them in your windows, please take a photo and send them to your child's class email address. We would love to share these on our website :)
